"We make a living by what we get, but we make a life, by what we give."

- Winston Churchill

Hey out there in Blogger-land, we just wanted to take the time this evening to thank all of our friends, family members and clients who participated in our first annual Blanket & Clothing Drive. Today we organized, tallied and delivered,186 blankets, coats, sweatshirts, beanies, hats and t-shirts to Seattle's DESC. A big thanks goes out to Janelle, for her continued, selfless work at DESC, and for allowing us to contribute to their cause. If you were not able to join us this year, in gathering items to be donated, or did not hear about our event, you can still make a difference by checking out DESC's website at: www.desc.org. Below you will find the Service Center's Mission Statement and we hope that you will take some time to review their site and learn ways that you can help change someone's life. If you do not live in the Seattle area, you can easily look up Local Shelter or Community Center information online and see how you can get involved in making your community a better place. Below you will also find a breakdown of all the items you helped us gather over the last 9 days.

DESC Mission Statement:

"The Downtown Emergency Service Center works to end the homelessness of vulnerable people, particularly those with serious mental and addictive illnesses. Through partnerships and an integrated array of comprehensive services, treatment and housing, we give people the opportunity to reach their highest potential. At DESC, uncommon efforts produce uncommon results that eliminate homelessness, one person at a time."

A very special thanks goes out to Erica Diederichs, at Golf Savings Bank, for her vision, and energy towards making this Blanket and Clothing Drive become a reality.
