I was 13 the first time I picked up a camera. My friends and I were into skateboarding and we built a ramp. I borrowed a camera from my buddyâs mom and just started shooting, guessing exposures, with no clue what the dials did. When we got the film back, one or two photos actually worked out. I was stoked. My dad always had a camera around, so I started using it more often. I took one photography class later on in high school where I learned to develop black and white film. It was amazing to see my negatives on a roll of film and to print them with an enlarger, all by hand. My jaw dropped seeing an image appear in the tray. And I havenât put the camera down since.
